10. Stickers
You can turn my star pictures into star stickers, provided you have a Cricut or similar machine. In fact, before you print out the stars (onto sticker paper or vinyl, if you want to go the decal route), you could even color in and/or decorate the stars digitally. Then you will print them out and feed them into your Cricut using the print and cut feature. The machine does all the work; you’re left with laser-sharp sticker cut-outs that you can apply to envelopes, students’ graded papers, and more.
9. Star Frosting Outlines
My stars make great outlines for frosted decorations for a cake or cupcakes. To use them, you’ll print out the star page(s) that you want to use and then spread wax paper over the entirety of the page. Get your piping tools ready and follow the lines, which are visible through the wax paper, with the frosting. Let the frosting stiffen, and you have really clever frosted stars that you can apply to the sides or tops of cakes or cupcakes.
8. Sewn Up Fabric Stars
You can use my star pictures as very basic sewing patterns; print out the illustrations you want to use and carefully cut them out, leaving about an eighth of an inch of paper around the outline. You can then pin the cut-out to your fabric and cut along it; do this twice. Start sewing the star pieces together; about halfway, stuff polyester filling inside and continue sewing until the shape is full and totally sewn together. You can use it as décor or even as a pillow.
7. Stencils For Room Painting
If you have a pre-teen or teenager who wants to jazz up their room walls with stars, my pictures can definitely be used to that effect. You’ll print out the pictures you want to use twice and onto cardstock, then line up the pages and paste or tape them together. This forms one durable stencil that you can then paint over – on the walls, the ceiling, and even the door to the bedroom.
6. Posters/Signs
You can use my star pictures digitally for any poster or sign that you are creating on the computer. Simply open/download the image, use the rectangle selection to draw a box around the stars you want to use, and copy/paste them into your poster/sign document. There, you can also resize the stars and move them around the page. Some ideas for posters or signs are an event announcement or a certificate of achievement for grade schoolers.
5. Fairy Godmother Wands
A perfect activity for a princess-themed party, you can use my star pictures to make fairy godmother wands. You’ll have the kids color in two stars of the same size and then start pasting them together. They’ll stuff a tissue or two inside at about the halfway mark. Right before they close up the stars completely, they’ll also glue in the dowel rods, then finish pasting the two pieces together. Give it about 15 minutes to half an hour to dry!
4. Suncatchers
You can use different sizes of stars to create a variety of suncatchers that will delight the eye. You’re going to print out my star pictures onto transparency paper. You can either cut out the outlines now or wait until later. You’ll get different colors of tissue paper, cut out little squares in various sizes, and glue them down onto the stars. You could also use blocks of color or completely cover the star with one color and then embellish it with other colors. You’ll poke a hole near the top of the star and tie off a piece of string, then use that to hang up the suncatchers in a sunny window using a suction cup and hook.
3. Gift Embellishments
Whatever the occasion, nothing says “I love you” like a wrapped gift where the giver went the extra mile in decorating the package. You can print out my stars in various sizes, on different colors of cardstock, cut them out, and use them as embellishments. Add ribbon or lace, glitter or sequins, or even curling ribbon or bows to complete the gift.
2. Party Decorations
Whether you have a high school or college graduate or are celebrating a new job or house, you can use my star pictures as inexpensive decorations. Intersperse the stars with balloons to create an eye-popping display, or cut out a bunch of smaller stars and leave them strewn on the food table like confetti. You can even use one of my larger stars and write on it as a sign for the direction of the bathroom.
1. Christmas Tree Ornaments
Stars can have many meanings around Christmas time, so why not get your kids creating ornaments for the tree with my star pictures? You’ll print the stars onto shrink sheets, have your kids color them in with markers, and cut them out. Punch a hole near the top and bake them per the shrink sheets’ instructions. Once they’ve cooled, your kids can go in and decorate them with glitter, puffy paint, etc. Wait for any embellishments to dry, and then tie off a piece of ribbon through the hole you punched. You can use that to hang the ornaments on the tree!
