10. Decorative Trays
After you have taken the time to color in one of my zentangle pictures, you can turn it into a beautiful decorative tray. You’ll need a tray – it can be plastic or wooden, and you might be able to find them at the dollar store – and some Mod Podge. Cut out your zentangle carefully, adhering as closely to the lines as possible. You’re going to Mod-Podge it to the inside of the tray, using two or three coats. The nice thing about Mod Podge is that it seals it, so it’s water resistant – so if you want to use the tray to serve tea or other beverages, you don’t have to worry about spilling.
9. Greeting Cards
Most zentangles can be used for any occasion, so why not give someone a gorgeous card for their next birthday, Mother’s Day, etc.? You can print it on the half-page or the quarter-page, then color it in the zentangle using high-end colored pencils or markers. And don’t forget to write a sweet, sappy, and sincere message on the inside for your recipient!

My zentangle pictures are a work of art on their own – all they need is color and a frame, and you have the perfect decoration for that bare wall. Consider coloring in three or more and creating a gallery wall over your couch or even in that blank space in your bathroom.
7. Calendars
You can make your own calendars, choosing an illustration for each month from my zentangle pictures – all at once or a month at a time. The gist is this: You’ll print off the design you want and color it in, making sure to add the month’s name at the top. Then you’ll make the calendar grid on the computer or free-hand it using a ruler. To connect the two pieces of paper, you’re going to punch three holes at the bottom of the picture page and the top of the grid page so that they align. Then you’ll use twine or ribbon and tie the pages loosely, making a bow. At the top of the picture page, you’ll want to poke a hole and tie off a string length so that you have something to hang the calendar with.
6. Coasters
Some of my zentangle pictures will have to be resized in order to fit a standard coaster, so go ahead and do that before printing. You can use wooden or ceramic tiles as the base for your coasters. You’re going to color in the zentangles and then carefully cut them out. Then you’ll Mod Podge the design cut-outs to the tiles; use several coats. Once they’re all dry, they’re ready to use!
5. Decorative Rocks
Keep your Mod Podge out – you’re going to need it for this craft, which is also great for kids big and small. You’ll likely have to resize my zentangle pictures so that the design will fit the rocks and then use a deft hand to color in the illustrations. Cut them out, and then Mod-Podge them to smooth roundish rocks. Once they’re dried, they are sealed against water so you can put them in your garden or on your porch or leave them in parks, on trails, or at the beach.
4. Wrapping Paper
For a small gift, you could use my zentangle illustrations as wrapping paper. While they’re striking on their own, you can also color in the pictures before using them. Make sure when wrapping the item that you place the paper face-down – that way, the whole, beautiful illustration is visible from the outside.
3. Wine Glass Charms
For your next girls’ night or bachelorette party, you can make these adorable wine charms. You’re going to need shrink sheets, upon which you will print the different illustrations. Color them in or leave them bare (either way, they’re lovely), cut them out carefully, and punch a hole where you want the jump ring to attach. Bake them off per the instructions, and once they’re cooled, you can attach the jump ring, which you also use to attach to the wine glass.
2. Puzzles
This is an excellent activity for older kids! You can print off different zentangle pictures and have them color them in. Then they’ll take Sharpies and draw roughly puzzle-shaped pieces directly onto the illustrations. They’ll cut out along the lines, and then they can trade puzzles. The mix of colors and lines should make the puzzles pretty challenging, especially if the pieces are smaller, too!
1. Book Covers
Cover a journal or small book with my zentangle pictures, and you’ll have a unique tome. First, you’ll have to resize the image; you can do this by copying/pasting the illustration from its original PDF to a word processor. So that the page fits the shape of a book, you’ll turn the word processor’s page to the landscape orientation. Resize the illustration so that it fills the right-hand side of the page, leaving a border of about half an inch all around. You want it on the right-hand side because you’ll flip the paper over to make the book cover; this way, the illustration ends up on the front.
