Below are some popular ways to make good use of your finished Minion coloring pages!
1. Make a Unique Mini Minion Notebook
A popular favorite among minion-loving youngsters is making a tiny accordion notebook. Use two small pieces of posterboard for the front and back covers. Next, cut a vertical strip from the center of the finished coloring page and fold it up tightly like an accordion. Glue either end to the front and back “cover” and squeeze them together. When opened up, it will look just like an accordion, but the youngsters can use the blank side to write secrets, jokes, phone numbers, or anything they like.
2. Design a Fun Minion Birthday Centerpiece
For this fun centerpiece craft, a finished coloring page should be folded into a classic fan. It should then be glued to a piece of poster board, measuring about 8 inches long and 3 inches wide. Glue the fan on the base in an upright position. Affix a cut out of a minion from another finished coloring page so that the fan is the background. From construction paper, cut out the number of the child’s birthday, and glue it to the minion’s hand for an adorable birthday centerpiece.
3. Make a Colorful Yard With Minion Signs
Colorful Minion yard signs make a fantastic craft for any creative youngster! Corkboard, Krazy Glue, and the finished coloring page are all that is necessary. The Corkboard should be cut out in the same pattern as the minion cut out, and the Krazy Glue can then be used to affix the two. A wooden knitting needle or extra large craft stick are perfect with which to anchor the sign into the ground. Just make sure you laminate it with acrylic spray, or don’t let it get wet!
4. Amusing Decorative Bananas
Everyone knows Minions love bananas! Using craft bananas made from felt-covered plastic–or even real bananas if you’re daring–line them up in rows of three or four. Have the youngsters color and cut out Minion smiles, eyes, glasses, gloves, and of course, those denim overalls. When these are strategically glued to the banana, the effect is nothing less than hilarious!
5. Make a Minion Shoebox for Tiny Treasures
Shoeboxes and the finished coloring pages are all that’s needed for this craft. On all four sides of the shoe box, the children should glue a colored Minion with his hands stretched out over his head as if working or packing boxes. Laminate the inside of the box as well, so that there are Minions to guard whatever treasures the children want to hide. When coated with acrylic spray, these boxes will last a very long time.
6. Funny Minion Dolls
For this craft, use large foam cups and turn them upside down. Because they are the perfect shape, it will be easy to laminate them with finished Minions cut from the original page. Use craft arms or brown pipe cleaners to create arms. Big, craft wiggle eyes are also a must, and should be glued on top of the coloring page eyes. Finally, use large, black pom-poms for feet, and you have an adorable desk or bureau ornament.
7. Make Minion Cupcake Toppers
Blue cupcake wrappers and yellow icing are a must and be sure to print enough coloring pages so that each cupcake has a topper. The colored Minions can then be cut out and laminated to thick cardboard. Small popsicle or craft sticks are perfect with which to anchor them to the cupcakes. For a simpler version, you can use toothpicks and unlaminated cutouts. This choice really just depends on how long you want them to last!
8. Minion Nesting Dolls
You would have to agree that Minions are one of the most amusing items to use as nesting dolls. Since these dolls can be acquired with a plain wood surface, all you need are coloring pages and glue. However, this requires a little diligence when choosing coloring pages since a variety of sizes are needed to laminate the different size dolls. Also, make sure to use acrylic spray when finished so that the surface of each doll is smooth and fits easily into the next.
9. Create a Unique Game
Use a large piece of corkboard, and have each child color his or her Minion and affix it to the board. Laminate the board with glassine and prop it against a wall. Loosely following the theme of pin the tail on the donkey, each child takes a turn being blindfolded and “pinning the tail” on the board. The goal is for each child to get his or her dart into a blue or yellow section of the board, depending on which team the child is on.
10. Have Some Stackable Fun
Since Minions are famous for their stackable fiascoes, why not convert this activity into a craft? This one makes a great group activity! Have each child color one or more Minions and carefully cut them out of the coloring pages. Then, have them create a “Minion tower,” with each minion standing on top of the last one. These can be taped or glued together and hung from the ceiling to the floor as a fun classroom decoration!
